CELLT has enjoyed its infancy. During our first two years we've established some great relationships with professional educators and technology enhanced learning specialists. Some very important growth spurts have happened along the way, including forging an alliance with LongSight Communications. You'll be hearing more about our programs that can provide Sakai and ePortfolios to small schools at reasonable costs. Watch for our announcement of the consortia in coming months.
So what does the future hold for CELLT? First, we're as eager to grow up as we were to first crawl. Our programs in professional development for technology assisted learning, our leadership programs and our technology services are on a fast track. The pace is amazing. It's both exhausting and exhilarating.
We are continuing our efforts to improve and enhance open source software and electronic portfolios for K-20 students. We are currently supporting both Sakai (a learning platform and electronic portfolio system and Drupal (a content management system for websites, particularly complicated ones). We are also working with several organizations on finding open content of high quality for use by middle schools and high schools. At this writing we're planning a trial with a potential partner that will allow our 21st Century Skills and ePortfolio curriculum to be totally and easily customizable. We'll share these resources with you soon.
We continue to expand the 21st Century Skills Curriculum with strands in:
The faculty portfolios we are piloting this spring with the faculty at The Charles School at Ohio Dominican University. If you are interested in dabbling with a faculty ePortfolio, come to our May conference and we'll provide some hands-on opportunities for you to start yours.
We're looking for professional educators who would like to affiliate with us. We've developed a CELLT Fellows program that we hope will grow into an interdependent group. The only requirements for participation--you need to be passionate about student learning, seriously interested in enhancing teaching and learning with technology, and consider yourself to be and educational renegade, guerrilla, change agent, or disrupting innovator. We're quite serious about providing an electronic niche for educational innovators who wish to extend the possibilities for technology enhanced learning and open source products and processes. Come join the fun!
